In my second magazine analysis I chose this Rolling Stone Magazine. It was published in March 2021 and has Selena Gomez on the cover.

Analyzing House Style Reflection - Magazine 1

I chose to analyze this People's Magazine about Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West's marriage drama. This magazine was issued on January 5th, 2021. It has a dark color scheme, majority of black filling the cover with hints of red and blue. This sets off a powerful and serious tone. 

First Thoughts on House Style

House Style is the specific design that companies use to help make their magazine look good and unique. Every magazine has their own house style with their own layouts and aesthetics. The purpose of this is for their magazine to stand out to readers.

House Styles are basically developed by how a company wants their magazine to look. Each brand has their own style and sense of creativity. By using these house styles, it makes these magazines look authentic and unique. Companies do this by using certain shades of colors, fonts, and graphics to give off a certain vibe and tone to the readers. 

I think house styles are used attract many people. When you look a magazine the first that you notice is it's cover, where you then decide if you wanna read it or not. This could also be used for new trends that are going on. Like if there were some new pair of Jordan's that just came out and everybody was going crazy about, a company would put out a magazine about shoes and include this in it. And by using the house style they would make their magazine look a certain way for it to stand out to the audience. 

The idea of house styles has made me want to actually analyze a magazine and look at the specific details that are included in it.

Composition (continued)

These are some pictures I took over the weekend to show the different types of composition. I took most of these in my backyard and around my neighborhood. They're all really nature filled as that was my theme for this exercise and I hope you guys like them!

Rule of Thirds. In this picture the objects (the trees and grass) are aligned to fit the point of the grid which fall into the rule of thirds. I really like the way I captured and how nice the scenery looks.

Focus Pull-  In each of these pictures the focus is on a different shot. In the first one you can see that the juice bottle in the one in focus and the trees behind it is blurry. It switches in the second picture where as the trees are the focus and the juice bottle is blurry. My goal was to show the switch in focus on the on the two objects. I love how it looks because the colors are just so pretty!

Framing- I positioned my phone inside of a gate to capture this photo and it turned out really good. I was trying to show a good example of framing as as the objects of m picture create a frame within my frame.

Shallow Focus- As you can see in this picture the ball is really close to the camera and is the one in focus while everything behind it is blurred out. This was to show the emphasis of the ball as its the main subject in this.

Hey everyone! I've had a very nice weekend. I didn't really do anything but sleep and stay inside all day, but I love being in my bed so that was great haha. Of course though I'm overloaded on school work so everyday is a constant struggle trying to finish all my assignments. Enough about my boring life though, lets get started with today's blog where I'll be talking to you all about composition and the different types.

• Framing- this refers to using elements of a scene to create a frame within your frame to highlight the subject of the picture. Like shooting through a doorway, tunnel, pulled back curtains, and etc.
• Rule of Thirds- This involves mentally splitting up your image into 2 horizontal lines and 2 vertical lines. You then position the elements of your scene along those lines and where your points meet at.
• Depth of Field- The distance between the closest and farthest objects in a photo that appears sharp. The camera is only supposed to be focused sharply at one point.
• Deep Focus- A deep focus shot includes the focus of the foreground, middle-ground, and extreme-background objects. This keeps both the objects and characters close up and far away from the camera in focus.
• Shallow Focus- A photographic and cinematographic technique incorporating a small depth of field. In this one plane of the image is in focus while the other is out of focus. It's used to emphasize one part of the image over the other.
• Focus Pull- This is a creative camera technique in which you change focus during a shot and adjust the focus from one subject to another.

Using Camera Shots (continued)

 In the  blog I explained all the different camera shots. In this one you guys will see examples of the different pictures I took showing these camera shots. I had a lot of fun capturing most of these pictures and hope you'll all like them as much as I do.

Establishing shot-  I was at Las Olas Beach and I really loved the scenery. There was amazing lights and buildings and I just had to take a picture. In this picture you can kind of see the environment as there's sand and trees with the beautiful buildings to really show an establishing shot.

Close up shot- Funny story for this one actually, as I was walking home from school one day and saw this huge iguana passing by. Although I literally so terrified I did my best to walk up to it, without scaring it away and took this picture. I made sure to zoom in so the subject could look real close in the camera, which shows a great example of the close up shot.

Long Shot- For this picture I used my cousin as my model to capture this long shot. My purpose was to show her whole body from head to toe. She actually really enjoyed being my model as she had a great outfit and wanted it to be shown.

Two shot- This picture shows an example of the two camera shot with my aunt and cousin as my models. We were actually by the beach on Saturday night when I took this and it turned out really cute. 

Wide angle shot- I took this picture of the sunset because the setting was really pretty and I thought it'd be a perfect representation of the wide angle shot. It definitely shows the full frame of the sky and sunset which was main goal when taking this picture.
